Where does fertilization occur in humans?

Fertilization in humans occurs in the fallopian tube, specifically within its ampulla region. After ovulation, when an egg is released from the ovary, it travels into the fallopian tube. Sperm, which are introduced into the female reproductive tract during intercourse, can swim through the cervix and uterus to reach the fallopian tube. It is in this location that the sperm can meet the ovulated egg, leading to the fusion of male and female gametes and the formation of a zygote.
